The journey of CrossPoint McPherson has been a series of big questions being answered by an even bigger God. When God put it on our hearts to pursue planting in McPherson, we had to know if there were people who would be willing to say yes to a difficult call and do the foundational work of planting a church. God moved and brought people who are eager to walk this path. Next, we needed to know where we would meet without having a building. God moved and helped us establish a fantastic relationship with the wonderful people at the McPherson Opera House, where we are meeting today. When the time came to soft launch, we didn't know how many people would be willing to be a part of our church. God moved and brought us 60 people to help begin this church plant. When it was time to launch publicly, we had expectations for how many people would attend. God moved and blew our expectations out of the water–He filled nearly every seat in the building. Even after we launched, we still didn’t know how we would be received by the community of McPherson. God moved and we have seen support from churches all across McPherson. As we continue moving forward in McPherson, we will come across any number of issues and come up with a plethora of questions, but we know that God will provide the answers we need. We know this because He promised us this in His Word, and we have already seen it play out many times here in McPherson. God has proven time and time again that, when we walk with Him, He will provide everything we need.
So God brought us here, but what is He doing now? Through God’s grace, we have seen the expansion of every facet of our ministry. Our Grow Groups have grown and are ready to multiply. Our weekend Worship Team keeps adding new members as we see more people use their talents to honor and glorify Christ. We have seen new faces join our Serve Teams on the weekend, from greeters to coffee-makers and from Kids volunteers to the Prayer Team, people are answering the call to serve. Lastly, God is bringing in people who are lost and in need of a Savior, as we all are, and we get to share the love of Jesus Christ with them.
It’s great to see all of these things that God is doing, how can you partner with us in prayer? We ask that you pray for a continued unification in McPherson. There are more than 30 churches in town and we want to collaborate in advancing the Gospel, not compete over territory. We ask that you pray for volunteers to come forward as we continue to grow. We will need all hands on deck as God does a great work in this place. Lastly, we ask that you pray for our future. The Opera House in McPherson has been an incredible place to gather for worship, and the staff are helpful beyond belief, but we believe that God is moving us towards a permanent location–all in His timing. We don’t want to be so focused on the future that we miss where God has us right now, or so focused on the present that we miss where God is leading us.
We serve a big God who has big plans, and we are thankful to be a part of the work He is doing in McPherson!
